EARLY MUSIC VANCOUVER
2023 Summer Festival | Brand Identity, Campaign Direction & Art Direction
THE BRIEF:
EMV wanted to celebrate women in classical music while attracting a younger audience, without losing the loyalty of their established base. Modern and inclusive without abandoning their classical roots.

THE APPROACH:
The concept centered on Christine de Pizan, a 15th century feminist icon. A local Vancouver artist created a custom hand-painted portrait donated specifically to the festival. We pushed it forward, combining the classical painting with bold digital colour and a modern feminist statement to create a hero image that felt both historical and completely current.
The identity then flexed across each individual concert while holding together as a unified festival system. A crown motif for Queen of Carthage for example. Vibrant colour throughout. Consistent typography across every format: digital ads, bus shelters, program covers, print, and keepsake fans.
